Win of the week! Loving that I am still doing @so Win of the week!

Loving that I am still doing @sophiecallahan #myruralbusinessjan21 - that’s got to be my win of the week. Doing it at my pace and enjoying getting to know the other people taking part - but given that in other years, busy life has meant that I’ve given up before now, I’m banking that as a win 💪

Finding time for me and my things is not always easy, and it’s something that I resolved to be better at this year - based on the fact that I could make the time to do it as I’m not commuting to meetings, school etc.

So, I’m loving my little win on this one, as it means that me-time is happening 😘

Huge thanks to Sophie for putting on such a lovely challenge 💕

It’s all about the turkey! I’ve got a turkey It’s all about the turkey!

I’ve got a turkey in the freezer and when we’re allowed to, we’ll be having an outdoor re-run of Christmas lunch with our friends.

I’m looking forward to the excited conversation, the easy laughter & working together to put a fabulous meal on the table.

There are other things I’m looking forward to but time with familiar & dearly loved friends is top of my list 💕

Prussia Cove, Cornwall... Cornwall is always the Prussia Cove, Cornwall...

Cornwall is always the answer when someone asks me where my favourite place to visit is.

I’m a Navy child and was born there, as a child I danced the Floral Dance through the streets and houses of Helston.

For over 20 years, we’ve holidayed there with our dearest friends - first without children and then needing to stay in bigger and bigger houses as the families grew and other friends came and stayed as well.

Times full of dancing seas, sandy picnics, diverting beach streams into newly built pools and much laughter over home-cooked suppers with card games after.

It’s one of our treat day trip destinations from our home in Somerset (when times allowed it!) for beach days and lunch at a newly discovered beach food place.

You’ll usually find us in North Cornwall, but this was a 2019 holiday on the South coast which was much enjoyed - with stunning sea views to wake up to every day and new trails and foodie places to discover.

How about you, where’s your favourite place to go? Will it be your destination of choice when lockdown lifts?

I ought to have been sitting in a shepherd hut! I I ought to have been sitting in a shepherd hut!

I was delighted when I worked out that this photo could tick off Days 12 & 13 of @sophiecallahan #myruralbusinessjan21 challenge.

So here I am, posting a photo of me and apart from the fact that I’m not sitting in a @blackdownshepherdhuts shepherd hut, this photo has @hihosilveruk jewellery on my wrist, @dorisandco providing my mug of tea and I’m stamping the soap we make for @dimpsey_glamping

So I’m thinking that it can tick the promote your products prompt off the list as well.

So why do I love what I do?

Well you’ve probably guessed that I like to have a few things on the go. I’m a portfolio entrepreneur and I mean, look at the gorgeous products that I get to spend my time with, I am a very lucky girl!

I spend most of my time helping to move businesses forwards, setting the vision, putting the plans together and making sure that we put customer experience firmly front and centre of everything we do.

I see learning and developing as a really important part of what I do, I need to be one step ahead and scouting to see what we’re going to need to react to. I work with amazing teams of people and the key thing is that our values are all based on the same roots, so it’s easy to transition from one business to another.

Although I’ve done a lot of it in my time. I now don’t like to get too stuck in the day to day, as I add the most value to a business when I am working on the big picture, or if there is a problem to chew through and examine.

Every day is different and I’m never quite sure what I’ll be working on next week - but I do know that as a rural business, whatever’s going on at work, the view’s out of the window is pretty much guaranteed to be gorgeous 😘

Did I fail? It’s the 12th of January, I’m doi Did I fail?

It’s the 12th of January, I’m doing @sophiecallahan #myruralbusinessjan21 challenge & today I am behind with it...by 3 posts...

On the 10th, I should have posted in real time & told you how I was feeling, I took this photo out of the window first thing & had a post in mind...I was on it...& then life happened.

I won’t bore you with the details, but suffice it to say that I was suddenly dealing with things that had to take priority over my Instagram post.

I was totally wrung out by the end of the day, the post was the last thing on my mind and then it popped back into my head.

“No matter,” thought I, the next post was about morning routine and this was an ideal photo to use for that. I’d just roll it over & combine two posts.

But Monday wasn’t playing ball at all, it steamed in like a bruiser & made Sunday feel like an easy day. Loads of work to do & other things to deal with at the same time meant the head was distracted & the mind wasn’t really into instagram...Of course, I scrolled, aimlessly mainly, but now 2 posts behind.

Then today dawns, situation hasn’t changed & other things roll in to add to the party but I’m working on my attitude. Wallowing in it isn’t going to help, it’s just making me miserable. Unusually, Mr W is a bit sad too, so he’s not kicking me up the arse, I need to pick us both up...

When in doubt, I always turn to the tried and tested...I force myself to look for the positives - where are they?

I reach for them, fumbling at first, but then one shines into view and I grasp it gratefully. That, in turn, pushes me into thinking about all the things I have to be grateful for, that we as a family have to be grateful for...I’m on a roll now. I talk to a couple of friends, the positivity scale increases...

I remind Mr W of the positives, we smile through the storm & reach for the bacon from the pigs we raised, the bread freshly made that morning & a bacon sandwich provides a much needed boost and we’re off.

So two posts in one here & now just one behind - so not a fail, a realistic adjustment in the circumstances, no-one’s judging me on it, so I don’t need to judge myself.

Be kind to yourselves my lovelies x
Always ready for life’s next big adventure...or Always ready for life’s next big adventure...or a cuddle - either will do...

Mr Mole 😘
